Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

"We will take a lot of positives out of this series no matter the final result," Strauss said. "But having played the sort of cricket we have in the last two Tests, we need to go on and finish the job. Everyone was saying that we might have a better chance of beating them in two or four years' time, but you don't know that. We have to use the momentum we have gained to go on and win the series.

"It will be hard to get them in such a vulnerable position again. You don't know what might come out of Australia in the next two to four years. At the moment we have a very good Australian team with a few of their players out of form. We have dominated two Test matches in a row and I don't know whether there will ever be a better time to beat them.

"People keep talking about how weak they will be without [Shane] Warne and [Glenn] McGrath but you can't know that for sure. It would be very disappointing to fail now because we have put so much time and effort into competing with them."
