From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Matt Windows struck an unbeaten 38 to lead Gloucestershire to a six-wicket win over Northamptonshire in the County Championship Second Division match at Bristol. Windows steered his side to a victory target of 102 just before lunch to hand Northamptonshire their first Championship defeat of the campaign. Windows had managed only 27 runs in his previous four first-innings this season.
It was Gloucestershire's first Championship success over Northamptonshire since 1998 and the captain, Jon Lewis, was delighted with the way his team had bounced back from an innings defeat to Surrey at the Oval last week. "Some of the guys who didn't do as well as they would have liked [at the Oval] have all fronted up in this game, and I'm really happy with the way we played," he said.
Glamorgan staved off a third consecutive County Championship defeat yesterday against Leicestershire at Grace Road. The visitors, forced to follow on, lost only four wickets on the final day - which they started on 37 for 1, still 191 runs behind. A second-wicket partnership of 173 between Daniel Cherry (91) and David Hemp (86) virtually ended Leicestershire's victory hopes - and the game drifted to a draw with Glamorgan closing on 267 for 5.
*Northamptonshire hope to sign the former India captain Sourav Ganguly in June if he is left out of the squad to tour the West Indies. He would replace the Australia A call-up Chris Rogers.
