Darren Lehmann continued his epic innings at Headingley on the second day of Yorkshire's Championship match against Durham yesterday, finally falling for 339. He became Yorkshire's first triple century-maker since Herbert Sutcliffe scored 313 against Essex at Leyton in 1932.
The Australian left-hander was finally dismissed by the off-spinner Paul Wiseman three runs short of becoming Yorkshire's highest ever scorer by overtaking George Hirst's 341 at Leicester 101 years ago.
Lehmann batted for eight hours and three minutes, faced 368 balls, and hit 52 fours and three sixes. "I am very proud to have made the biggest score at Headingley," he said.
Yorkshire declared at 677 for 7. Durham were 203 for 6 at close needing 325 more to avoid the follow on.
