From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Collins Obuya, the Kenyan leg-spinner, has signed as one of Warwickshire's overseas players. The 21-year-old is likely to play his first game against Cardiff University on 14 May and will be available throughout the season, subject to international duty.

The Nairobi-born player burst on to the international scene during Kenya's successful World Cup campaign when they reached the Super Six stage. He took 13 wickets at an average of 28.76 in his nine games during the tournament, including five for 24 against Sri Lanka in Nairobi.

"The players are very excited about Collins' introduction to the squad," the Warwickshire captain Michael Powell, said. "He was impressive in the World Cup and is proving to be an exciting prospect. His bowling should add an extra dimension to our attack and we have also been struck by his athleticism in the field."

The second round of County Championship matches begins today with Phil DeFreitas leading a new-look Leicestershire side against Kent at Canterbury. Paul Nixon will keep wicket on his return to the county, and Jeremy Snape, David Masters and Rupesh Amin are set to feature after joining from Gloucestershire, Kent and Surrey respectively.

At Old Trafford Lancashire welcome back Peter Martin against Nottinghamshire after a family bereavement kept him out of their draw with Surrey.

Martin is expected to return at the expense of Kyle Hogg, while Andrew Flintoff will feature after receiving permission to play by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
