From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The home team began the day on 235 for 6 with Andy Flower (107no) and Gary Whittall (27no), and although the pair moved the score to 284, the dismissal of Flower sparked a collapse and Zimbabwe were all out for 292.
Flower's innings of 129 off 304 balls came to an end when he charged down the wicket in an attempt to hit Jayasuriya over the top. However, a thick edge flew to Marvan Atapattu at backward point. Gary Brent followed two balls later when Jayasuriya's arm ball trapped him lbw. Jayasuriya then had Bryan Strang caught in the slips and he completed a fine individual performance when he dismissed Henry Olonga for a duck. His figures of four for 40 are the best of his Test career and left Sri Lanka needing only 35 for victory.
Sri Lanka struggled towards their target, however, as their opener, Marvan Atapattu (6), was run out in the second over to a direct hit from Murray Goodwin. Jayasuriya (7) was then caught by Trevor Gripper off the bowling of Brent to leave the tourists on 15 for 2. With 20 on the board and 15 runs still needed, Russel Arnold became Brent's second victim and Tuwan Dilshan followed five balls later.
Romesh Kaluwitharana was lucky not to be out when he edged Strang through the slips and was then dropped in the next over but the Sri Lankan duo scrambled their way to victory and a lead in the three-match series with one Test to go.
It was Kaluwitharana who sealed it in the 16th over of the innings with a late cut off Brent's bowling that went for four. Brent, none the less, impressed with three wickets for 21 runs in just his second Test.
