From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Australia cruise to victory
Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath shattered India's top order batting with a five-wicket burst to take Australia to a 41-run victory in the Aiwa Cup triangular tournament. India, chasing Australia's 252 for eight from their 50 overs, crashed to 44 for 5, before a face-saving sixth wicket stand of 123 between Sadagopan Ramesh, who hit 71, and Robin Singh, with 75, lifted them to 211 all out in 48.3 overs. Earlier, the Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist had scored 77 off 84 balls to spur Australia to their impressive total. The World Cup winners have now won all four of their qualifying games, and have secured their place in the final. India, and hosts the Sri Lanka, will now play for the other berth. They meet in the last game today, with Sri Lanka ahead of India by two points.
