The duo, along with team-mate Nikara Jenkins, won Wales’ first Commonwealth Games team medal in the sport on Thursday and continued the medal rush in the Hydro after they finished behind Canada’s Patricia Bezzoubenko, who took the gold.
Brownlees united in rivalry for triathlon team relay
Alistair and Jonny Brownlee will join forces for Saturday’s triathlon team relay after landing gold and silver in the individual triathlon – but they will still be competing against each other.
The relay comprises two women and two men each completing a mini-triathlon in turn. Alistair said: “I still want to beat him. We still get competitive about who gets the fastest relay time.”
England men and women advance to quarter-finals in table tennis
England’s men’s and women’s table tennis teams were relieved to book their places in Saturday’s quarter-finals after they beat Tanzania 2-0 and Barbados 3-0 respectively.
Kelly Sibley, who was part of the women’s team who came fourth at Delhi 2010, said: “What happened to us four years ago missing out on the medal, it was heartbreaking. It would be fantastic to get one, it’s been my dream.”
