Canelo Alvarez has opened up on his motivation ahead of this weekend's middleweight unification fight with Daniel Jacobs in Las Vegas.

The Mexican, who outmatched Rocky Fielding in his last outing, puts his WBA and WBC titles on the line at the T-Mobile Arena in the hope of adding the American's IBF strap to his growing collection.

A bout against WBO title holder Demetrius Andrade could be on the horizon for Canelo who is desperate to cement his legacy as one of the greats of the sport.

"It's very important but it's very motivating as well. This is the first step, another step in the objective we have this year of winning all four titles," he told Sky Sports.

Canelo knows he won't have it all his own way against the American who'll be making the first defence of his own title on Saturday night and has only lost twice in his 37-fight career.

"He's a very dangerous fighter, he knows how to adapt, change it up, goes from southpaw to orthodox," he added.

"He's a complete fighter which makes him very dangerous but I'm a fighter that has a lot of experience and knows how to adapt and we're ready for that.

"I want to write my own history and without a doubt, I want to go down as one of the greatest in boxing."
