Instigate Debate Live: Is the party over?
"Instigate is now the most important underground movement" - NME
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Is The Party Over? - London Union Chapel / Monday 26th April
Expenses scandal/no electoral reform/corporate lobbying/the special relationship/media magnates for tea: Are they all the same? Does your vote actually matter?
Debate these issues and more with a panel featuring the RT Hon Harriet Harman MP, Dame Vivienne Westwood, Simon Hughes MP, Peter Tatchell and Jeremy Hunt MP. With music from The Magic Numbers, SHLOMO (Beatbox Vocal Artist), Rose Elinor Dougall, and Very Special Guests, and comedy from Tommy and the Weeks. Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers will host the event, and John O'Sullivan is the Debate Host.
We also need people to submit a 100 word argument on why (or why not) 'the party is over' - on why political parties and the present political arena cannot provide the positive changes the electorate seek, or 100 words outlining why a party political system is essential. Submit your 100 word entry to post@instigatedebate.com or post it in the comments below and the best two arguments will be submitted as motions on the night.
