SANTIAGO (Reuter) - Erich Honecker, the former East German leader, was seriously ill but his cancer was not terminal, Chilean doctors said. Mr Honecker was freed from prison in Berlin because doctors said he would not survive a trial on manslaughter charges. He was sent home on Friday after a day of tests. More tests were needed, doctors said, before they could decide whether the growth in his liver could be removed.
