From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Spare a thought for this woman. She was walking along a road in Israel when she was literally blown over by strong winds.

Despite her attempts to fight the extreme weather, the forces of nature won and the woman was left flat on her face.

Luckily, some passers-by quickly ran to help her back on her feet but not before the incident was captured on camera.

It appears that someone in a nearby café decided to film the woman’s struggle on their mobile phone rather than actually help her. The woman is not believed to have been injured in the fall.

The incident happened in the city of Ramat Gan in Tel Aviv. The strong winds were followed by a storm in which heavy rains battered the shores of the city.

The storm could peak today but is expected to be lighter than one that hit the area back in December 2013.

Around 12 to 24 hours of snowfall is also expected in Jerusalem, with snow crews on alert and snow ploughs at the ready.
