A game warden has killed a rare lynx with government approval because it was believed to have killed 13 sheep in recent days, officials said last night.

The World Wide Fund for Nature has protested and said a better way should be found to protect sheep than shooting the lynx, which was extinct in Switzerland until it was reintroduced 25 years ago. AP - Bern
