Lebanese police named the suspected killer of a Jordanian diplomat as Youssef Mahmoud Shaaban, a Palestinian. A security official said he was a follower of radical guerrilla leader Aby Nidal, Reuter reports from Beirut.

The alleged killer and three suspected Palestinian accomplices in the murder of Naeb Maaytah were members of Abu Nidal's Fatah Revolutionary Council (FRC), police said. The FRC has denied involvement in the killing of Maaytah in west Beirut last month.
