Hong Kong handover: Little red songbook

Betty Tung, wife of Hong Kong's future leader Tung Chee-hwa, has unveiled a song "The Homecoming" composed to celebrate Hong Kong's reversion to Chinese rule.

"The beautiful sun of July shines forth on Hong Kong,

The pride of homecoming will forever be carved in my heart.

Every Chinese heart is filled with joy,

Waving goodbye with heads held high to the hundred years.

From tomorrow the future is limitless, let the sun shine everywhere, countless people united in one,

Hand in hand, for Hong Kong, unity is the direction.

Together we realise one country, two systems."
