Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Superintendent Andy Rhodes and Inspector John Donnelly, who are based in Blackpool, arrived on the Greek island late on Friday and were greeted by Captain Themis Kalamtas, Faliraki's chief of police, before walking round Bar Street.
The officers have been called in to liaise with police after an initiative to tackle drunken behaviour in Blackpool, Operation Nightsafe, was successfully launched earlier this year.
A spokeswoman for Lancashire police said: "We have met with Rhodes police officers and the mayor of Faliraki and discussed the issues we both face. It's proved a real success."
Earlier Supt Rhodes said they were not "here to teach the Greeks how to do their job. We have a lot of common ground."
Supt Rhodes will be advising his Greek counterparts on ways to deal with binge drinking, such as cutting cheap drink promotions, improving training for doormen and installing CCTV to film the activities of troublemakers.
