‘Not in my name’ – demonstrators denounce violence after Paris attacks

Defiant crowds marched in the streets of Toulouse and Rome this weekend to remember the victims of last Friday’s terror attacks in Paris.

A protester in Toulouse said the demonstration “is to show that we are united against everything that tears apart society”.

The demonstration in Rome featured the growing #NotInMyName campaign; which has been endorsed by thousands of Muslims worldwide. The campaign condemns any violence in the name of Islam.

Mustapha Hajraoui, President of the Islamic Confederation said: “These terrorist groups are only creating hate between people and between religions. Religion has nothing to do with this. Our religion is not a religion of terrorism; it’s not a religion of war – but of peace.”

This message has been most visible on social media.
