Belgian MPs lifted the parliamentary immunity of Guy Coeme, who had resigned as deputy prime minister after accusations of bribery, AP reports from Brussels.

Mr Coeme faces High Court questioning over the purchase of helicopters by the armed forces in 1988. He and two other leaders of the French-speaking Socialist Party face questioning over allegations the party received bribes in return for a government helicopter contract with an Italian firm.
