At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. In Portugal on Saturday a Polish couple plunged to their deaths while attempting to take a selfie with their children on the edge of a cliff.
The family were on holiday and visiting the cliffs at Cabo da Roca on the west coast of Portugal.
Portuguese authorities are now investigating the incident, although it is believed the couple were taking pictures of themselves when they fell.
Rescue workers had to give up their attempts to recover the body that night due to weather conditions on the Atlantic Ocean.
They eventually found the bodies on Sunday having resumed their search.
Cabo da Roca is a popular destination for tourists in the area and it is the far western edge of Continental Europe.
