Armani autumn show relies on legs appeal

And indeed, lots of leg was on show. In an obvious attempt to inject more sex appeal, Armani sent out flirty, undulating miniskirts that topped hosiery printed with his eagle logo, satin or suede thigh-high boots, and kitten-heeled boots printed with flowers.
Armani's play with proportions elongated the body and saw him conform to next season's Sixties-inspired trend. While miniskirts were plentiful, he also offered trapeze-shaped coats that hit the thigh and Beatnik black and white striped mohair tank-tops.
The Twenties – not the Sixties – was where Armani looked for inspiration. Referencing his favourite heroine, the aviator Amelia Earhart, he sent out his signature black velvet school caps and variations on the aviator jacket in soft peach and cream kidskin leather. He also included traces of flapper chic in black and ivory satin evening wear that sparkled with diamante details; a belt buckle, art deco patterned shoulders, and necklines. The best pieces were his summer dresses featuring cutaway wrap skirts and nipped-in black suede jackets that were lined with shimmering silver leather.
But the Italian designer saved his best until last. Taking his bow, he was joined by the actress and model Milla Jovovich who marked the finale in a raspberry satin dress ruched with black ribbon bows. It highlighted what was acknowledged as an overall improvement in the product line.
Giorgio Armani will be the first to be included in a new Walk of Style on Rodeo Drive during next week's Oscar celebrations in Los Angeles. The award is to reflect his contribution to the fashion and entertainment industries.
