Mexico City - Police detained and questioned Humberto Garcia Abrego, the brother of one of Mexico's suspected drug cartel chiefs, about the group's possible involvement in the murder of Francisco Ruiz Massieu, secretary-general of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party.

This appeared to buttress widespread speculation that last week's murder was ordered by drug traffickers, possibly linked to ruling party politicians. The dead politician's brother heads Mexican anti-narcotics operations. Reuter
