Two Nato soldiers have been killed in separate attacks in Afghanistan, the alliance said today.

They died in the south and east of the country where most of the fighting is taking place this summer. No other details were released.

Meanwhile Afghan officials say a two-day operation in eastern Paktika province has left 34 insurgents and two policemen dead.

The insurgents included two Taliban commanders. Three of the dead were wearing suicide vests.

So far this year, 195 Nato service members have died in Afghanistan.
