Hong Kong murders: ‘I want to get out of here’ – 'last words' texted by the domestic worker found brutally killed in British banker’s flat

“Something smells really bad – I want to get out of here,” were the last words the Indonesian domestic worker discovered brutally murdered in a British banker’s luxury Hong Kong flat texted, it is claimed.

Seneng Mujiasih, better known to friends as Jesse Lorena, was found by police on the sitting room floor of former Merrill Lynch banker Rurik Jutting’s flat at around 3.45am last Saturday.

The Daily Telegraph reported that at around 3.25am that morning Ms Mujiasih used her mobile phone to send a message to a friend – only 20 minutes before Hong Kong police arrived after Mr Jutting rang.

"Something smells really bad – I want to get out of here," the message said, according to a source close to the victim who asked not to be named.

After that text, the friend claimed they received no further messages from the victim.

Ms Mujiasih, 29, was found by police after Mr Jutting, who left an automated work email in the days up to the arrest describing himself as a “psychopath”, called the police to his apartment on the 31st floor of an expensive block of flats.

It is believed that Ms Mujiasih met Mr Jutting in the New Makati Pub & Disco, located near the banker’s flat, between 1.35am and 2.15am on the morning of 1 November – according to two witnesses.

One of the last people to see her alive, 47-year-old DJ Robert van den Bosch identified the pair after they were captured on film walking past a CCTV camera.

It is not known what Ms Mujiasih referred to as the bad smell, however, residents of the same block of flats also reportedly complained about a "dead animal" stench following Mr Jutting's arrest.

The DJ – who was friends with the young woman through an ex-girlfriend – also disputed media allegations she was a sex worker.

“I think her dream was just to find a better life,” he said, adding that she first came to Hong Kong as a domestic helper roughly eight years ago.

Ms Mujiasih reportedly lived inside a tiny room in a cheap boarding house around the corner from Mr Jutting’s £1,500 a month flat.

The Cambridge graduate is now charged with murdering both Indonesian girls and has submitted to a mental assessment after appearing in court yesterday.
