A man was caught on camera launching a violent homophobic attack on another man at an airport gate last week.
The attacker, wearing a brown hooded jumper, was filmed approaching the man at Gate C30 in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Texas on Thursday afternoon.
He is shown being filmed by a witness and the victim in a pink T-shirt, who he abused with a tirade of verbal and physical attacks, in a YouTube video that has been viewed more than three million times.
The man, who has not been named, shouts: "Queers is what I'm upset about," to another man wearing a black Stetson hat.
He motions towards the victim who is standing at an information desk and appears to be in his 50s.
"This f****t right here," he adds.
He is then handcuffed by two police officers while held to the ground by up to five other men.
Andrew Kennedy, the man who filmed the incident while travelling with his brother and parents, said on camera: "That guy was crazy, absolutely crazy."
His brother Neal said: "We saw a very troubled man.
"We hope that he was under the influence of some kind of substance because if he wasn't and that is his true personality then he has a long road in front of him."
The attacker was filmed smiling, laughing and making racist comments towards two black police officers who held him down to the ground while medical attention was arranged for the victim.
As he is lying on his front with his hands behind his back, the attacker says: "You want me to tell you the reason why I did it?
"Because this is America, that's why. The same reason you get to live, to breathe, to walk, black."
He is taken away by the police officers as the seven-minute clip ended.
Airport spokeswoman Cynthia Vega confirmed that officers did arrested the man but offered no further comment.
