Moment camel is spotted on the side of highway during Pennsylvania snow storm

Driving through a snowstorm in the US state of Pennsylvania, the last thing Megan Vogel and her friend's expected to see was a camel, but one of the animals nonetheless appeared through the snowflakes.

Sharing footage of the creature which appeared to be tied to a stationary van on Twitter, Ms Vogel wrote: "No big deal, just a camel on 309 in a snowstorm."

She was referring to highway 309 which runs north from the city of Philadelphia.

Dubbed "Snowvember", Winter Storm Avery is continuing up the East Coast causing travel chaos and school closures.

More than 80 million people braced for the Arctic blast as winter storm alerts were issued from St Louis through the Appalachian Mountains to New York and New England.

Nearly half-a-million people across the Midwest, mid-Atlantic and Northeast were left without power after the storm struck earlier this week.
