Two teenagers have been sentenced to four years each in prison for their part in the murder of actress and former Miss Venezuela Monica Spear, along with her ex-husband.

The country’s top prosecutor said the adolescents, aged 15 and 17, were sentenced earlier in the week, while three other people were previously sentenced in the case to prison terms ranging from 24 to 26 years.

Five other people still await trial.

29-year-old Spear and her former husband Thomas Henry Berry, a 39-year-old British citizen, were shot to death resisting a robbery on 6 January 2014 during a holiday in Venezuela.

Their then five-year-old daughter was shot in the leg.

The killings took place alongside a highway around 105 miles west of Caracas.

Venezuela is among the most violent countries in Latin America, with the second highest murder rate in the world according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
