Cow escapes slaughterhouse to enjoy brief moment of freedom on New York streets
The animal was on the loose for around 30 minutes.
Video has emerged showing a runaway cow on the streets of New York.
The animal is believed to have escaped from a halal meat market in the busy Queens neighbourhood on Thursday.
During its 30-minute adventure, the cow walked past shops and restaurants; and crossed congested roads. It amused passers-by on the way, who took to their mobile phones to capture the bizarre scene.
New York Police’s Department emergency services managed to capture the animal and take it back to the slaughterhouse.
They shared pictures of the cow being roped and wrote: “Yes, you heard right! Cow on the loose-Jamaica Queens. All Officers safe.No injuries.Thank you all for your patience."
