Oprah Winfrey has visited a bank for the first time in 29-years, for "fun".

The talk show host and media mogul revealed she had not visited an establishment since 1988.

Winfrey, who thought to have a net worth of $3.1bn (£2.35bn), used the visit to cash a pay cheque, worth $2m (£1.52m).

The revelation came to light on Ellen DeGeneres’ YouTube segment: “Ellen’s Burning Questions”, on which Winfrey also admitted she did not know her card PIN number either.

“I went to the bank recently because I hadn’t been to the bank since 1988,” the 63-year-old, said.

“What did you go to the bank for?” DeGeneres asked, adding: “To deposit a million dollars?”

As it turns out, Winfrey actually carried her own cheques for deposit.

“I just wanted to go there just to do it. I stood in line, just to do it,” Ms Winfrey said. “It felt fantastic,” she added.

Then she clarified: “Actually, it was $2m.”

The Oprah Winfrey Show started in 1986 and ran with her as the host until 2011.

She now also acts as the chief executive of Harpo productions and is in charge of the Oprah Winfrey (OWN) television network.
