President Barack Obama will meet privately with Mitt Romney at the White House tomorrow, in their first face-to-face encounter since the presidential election.
In his victory speech, Mr Obama promised to engage with his Republican former rival. Mr Obama and congressional Republicans are negotiating a way to avoid tax rises and deep spending cuts, known as the "fiscal cliff", which take effect on 1 January.
