Double-murder suspect broadcasts his escape from police on Facebook Live

An Oklahoma man suspected of killing two of his family members before shooting two police officers and stealing their patrol car posted videos of his escape on Facebook Live.

The violence erupted at around 6.30pm on Sunday evening near Wellston, some 35 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, when 38-year-old Michael Vance opened fire on the officers with an AK-47 automatic weapon, as they were responding to an emergency call.

One officer was hit in the foot and one in the leg, and both were later treated for non-life threatening injuries. Vance, who was thought to have been shot twice in the torso, stole their patrol car and fled.

Police later found the bodies of two of the suspect’s relatives at a nearby home. Vance reportedly dumped the patrol car at a trailer park, where he car-jacked a woman, shot and wounded her and stole her Lincoln Continental.

That car was also found dumped later and police said on Monday that they believed Vance had stolen a third vehicle, a grey Mitsubishi. As he fled, Vance broadcast on Facebook Live, boasting about what appeared to be the rifle in his lap.

“This is more intense than I thought it was going to be, to say the least,” he said in one of two clips.

Vance was recently released from jail pending a court appearance over child sexual assault charges. Authorities also said he is believed to have Aids and “may try to spread the disease”. Locals in the Wellston area were warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
