Hector Mario Lopez Fuentes, 81 is charged with orchestrating the deaths of 300 people in 1982 and 1983, during the 14-month military rule of General José Efrain Rios Montt. More than 200,000 people disappeared during the country's 36-year civil war, which ended in 1996. Most of them were thought to have been killed by security forces.
