A former firefighter is in police custody after allegedly taking four firefighters hostage at a fire station near Philadelphia on Tuesday, according to local media reports.

An armed man reportedly took the hostages around 10:30 am at the LaMott Fire House in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, according to reports.

Initial reports claim that the suspect allegedly was holding hostage four other firefighters with a handgun in the station's basement. Police now say the suspect was in a dispute with the fire company up until yesterday.

Local law enforcement now reportedly has a suspect in custody.

The local ABC affiliate reported that police officers entered the firehouse through a garage and closed the garage behind them. Around 11:50 am, the suspect was taken into police custody.

Police also have detained others, though it is not clear if they are suspects or civilians.
