Everybody knows Donald Trump. Maybe you’ve seen him on his reality television show “The Apprentice”, maybe you’ve gambled at one of his casinos or played one of his golf courses.
But do you really know Donald Trump?
Here are five things you may not know about “The Donald”.
His parents sent him to military school
As a boy, Donald attended a private school in the New York City borough of Queens. But at the age of 13 — after some trouble in school — he was sent to the New York Military Academy, where he earned academic honors and starred in several sports, according to the school's website.
He went on to study for two years at Fordham University before he enrolled at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
His company completed Wollman Rink in Central Park
Countless people have skated on the iconic ice rink in New York’s Central Park. The project to build the rink began in 1980 and was set to be finished within two-and-a-half years, but was not done in 1986.
He previously owned a sports franchise
Trump bought the New Jersey Generals ahead of the 1983 inaugural season of the now-defunct United States Football League, but sold the team before the season actually began, only to again buy the team prior to the 1984 season.
He is in the WWE Hall of Fame
A long-time fan of World Wrestling Entertainment, Trump was inducted into the celebrity portion of the Hall of Fame in 2013. He has appeared in numerous WrestleMania specials and has hosted events at his properties.
‘The Donald” nickname came from an ex-wife
Trump is now commonly referred to as “The Donald”, a nickname revealed by first wife Ivana Trump, who mentioned it in an interview.
