More than 300 guests at Washington wedding forced to quarantine after guests test positive for Covid

Health officials say positive cases from ceremony continue to grow

More than 300 guests at a Washington wedding were forced to quarantine after 17 attendees tested positive for coronavirus.

Health officials say that the “superspreader” ceremony was held earlier this month at a private venue in the state and has been linked to “two subsequent outbreaks.”

Authorities say that more cases are being aded to the total every day and urged all guests to get tested and to quarantine.

“We are very thankful to those attendees who have gone in for testing and are staying home. This helps protect their friends, coworkers, and communities from this illness," said Grant County health administrator Theresa Adkinson.

Officials say they may not be able to contact every guest because they came from a wide range of communities.

"Due to the multi-jurisdictional impact of this large event,  we felt it was necessary to notify the public," said Grant County Health Department in a statement.

Washington governor Jay Inslee has announced tighter Covid-19 restrictions in the state, which on Monday had reported 131,532 cases.

Under the restrictions weddings are now limited to no more than 30 people and indoor receptions are banned.

This is just the latest wedding to be linked with large outbreaks across the US, with at least eight having died and more than 100 infected following an August wedding Maine.
