From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Obamas have introduced their new pet dog to the world via a video released by the White House. In the video the Portuguese Water Dog can be seen running around and playing on the White House lawn with Bo, the Obamas other pet pooch who is of the same breed.
Sunny was born in Michigan in June 2012 and arrived at White House on Monday. From the video it appears that she is already fitting in the family.
According to a White House blog: 'Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo – full of energy and very affectionate – and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality.'
Both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama shared pictures of the new member of the family on Twitter.
President Obama simply wrote: Welcome to the family, Sunny.'
While Michelle Obama tweeted from her First Lady of the United States account @FLOTUS: 'So excited to introduce the newest member of the Obama family— our puppy, Sunny!'
