The slideshow, made up of 95 pictures, is dominated by images of the refugee crisis and the conflict zones of Iraq and Syria. These two events look to continue well into 2016.
There are moving pictures from the Nepal earthquake which took place on 25 April. Measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale and killing over 9,000 people, it was the worst natural disaster to hit region since the 1934 Nepal-Bihar earthquake.
The collection of pictures also shows the horrifying scenes of November’s terror attacks in Paris. 130 people lost their lives in France’s worst-ever terror attack.
Cultural events like Coney Island’s Mermaid Parade feature in the slideshow; alongside sporting moments such as Luis Suarez’s iconic goal against Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League.
