From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Londoners enjoying the view over the Thames were left scratching their heads after a flying car appeared in the sky over the London Bridge last night.

Well, almost.

A helicopter was seen at 7pm yesterday carrying a car which appeared to have all its lights on.

The bizarre sight caused many people to take to Twitter – capturing the flying car and a beautiful sunset over the capital in the process.

Seb Dance, MEP, wondered on Twitter what all the fuss was about, writing: “Extreme approach by one council to parking violations?”

Twitter user Brett B-Smith commented on the stunt: “So yes … Just watched a helicopter carrying a car along the Thames. Standard London evening.”

The flying vehicle was revealed to be part of a Jaguar PR stunt.

Antoniya Kuneva said on Twitter: “Only in London. A car being filmed while carried by a helicopter!”

The luxury car firm was airlifting its new XE sports salon into London as part of a global launch, premiering the £30,000 car tomorrow.
