COAL BILL: The bill for consultants who advised ministers on privatisation of the coal industry was pounds 10.2m in 1993-94, the Trade and Industry minister, Tim Eggar, disclosed.

MOTIONS: The tabling of early day motions by MPs cost pounds 2.29m last year, the Leader of the House, Tony Newton, disclosed. He said 1,769 motions were put down by members at an average cost of pounds 1,295 each.

HMSO: Her Majesty's Stationery Office should make an pounds 11.9m profit under targets announced by the Public Service minister, Robert Hughes.
