Natalie Bennett quick-fire: I support England in the Ashes, I cry over sad animal stories and my drug of choice is alcohol - but never with Farage
Green party leader reveals all in quick-fire interview with The Independent
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. No wonder Natalie Bennett never returns to her native Australia – she would be met by an angry mob after switching allegiances in the Ashes.
The Green party leader now supports England in the biennial cricket series with Australia, as she reveals in her quick-fire interview with The Independent.
She boasts that she was “a pretty decent wicket keeper in my time,” but has had to give up the sport when she became leader of the Greens in 2012.
Like the Australian Prime Minister, Ms Bennett has downed a pint before, but says she would never do so in the company of Ukip leader Nigel Farage.
One question Bennett refused to answer was, "If you had to take part in one, would it be fox hunting or the Grand National?"
What makes Natalie Bennett cry? “Not big, serious things…[just] sad animal stories.”
She wants a female to replace Jeremy Clarkson as Top Gear presenter and recommends the Guardian’s Zoe Williams, who writes car reviews.
Other things we learnt from the quick-fire round: She spends £60-£80 a week, she knows the price of a pint of organic milk (49p), she is very quick at mental arithmetic, she goes to rural France for her holidays.
