Islamic school 'faces closure'
Parents of children at the Islamia school in Brent, north London, which is applying for state funding, were warned by the school's foundation yesterday that it may have to close if its proposals are rejected. The 180-pupil school has been campaigning for 10 years to be granted voluntary-aided status on the same basis as more than 4,000 state-funded Roman Catholic, Anglican and Jewish schools.
