Woman in critical condition is seventh victim of 'particularly bad batch of drugs' at Manchester's Warehouse Project club

A 32-year-old woman remains in a critical condition after taking drugs at the same music venue as a man who died in a suspected drug incident last week.

Police issued a warning about a “particularly bad batch” of drugs after Nick Bonnie, 30, died and five other people were taken to hospital after a night at The Warehouse Project in Trafford, Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police said the woman was taken to hospital on Friday night after taking “a small quantity of drugs shortly before she started to feel ill”. She was put into an induced coma.

Police said she shared the drugs with a male friend, who did not suffer any ill effects. A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possessing and supplying drugs was bailed until 13 October.

Mr Bonnie, a charity worker from Stroud, Gloucestershire, died in hospital after visiting The Warehouse Project. Five other people were admitted to hospital feeling unwell after taking a “controlled drug” – believed to be ecstasy – at the same venue, police said. A police spokesman said additional safety measures had been put in place at the venue, including extra officers and an on-site doctor.

Last night two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply and they remain in custody. A 21-year-old was arrested after being searched before entering the premises and a 19-year-old was held after being detained by staff inside the venue.
