The flood waters are receding and 'returning to normal', according to Andrew Pearce an Area Manager at the Environment Agency.
Mr Pearce said: "Gradually things are starting to return to normal. It's still quite hazardous, flood water should be avoided, residents going back into their properties should take care and follow our advice and guidance."
"But generally speaking, things are starting to improve although the weather forecast is unsettled for the next few days, so we need to remain vigilant."
He went on to say: "It's about looking at conditions locally and obviously the Environmental Agency will continue to monitor the rivers throughout the South East, throughout the country over the ext weeks or so."
