Bike and cab driver clash in London

Footage has emerged of an angry confrontation between a cyclist and a taxi driver in central London.

The video shows a cyclist and yellow taxi cab collided when they both move off at a set of traffic lights.

The taxi driver can then be seen getting out of his vehicle, before shouting at the cyclist in the road that he had “hit my f****** car” and threatening to call the police.

The incident allegedly happened on Monday morning at around 8.20am in Piccadilly Circus.

The person who recorded the footage intervened to defend the cyclist, who was not harmed in the collision, saying he saw the cabbie drive into him.

He said: "You drove into him" to which the driver responded "I didn't drive into anyone."

It comes after news emerged of an Italian woman who was killed while cycling through Battersea, south London, on her way to work at around the same time on Monday.

Lucia Ciccioli had been travelling to her new job as a waitress at a local restaurant when she was knocked down by a HGV, the Evening Standard reported.

The 32-year-old is the seventh person to die cycling in London this year – and the second to die in accident involving a HGV.

Last month, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan announced new plans to ban thousands of lorries from London in a bid to protect cyclists.

HGVs, especially high-wheeled construction lorries, have significant blindspots which means they account for a fifth of all pedestrian deaths despite making up only four per cent of traffic.
