Dramatic video footage shows police sweeping bars in London Bridge following a terrorist attack that killed at least six people and injured dozens more on Saturday night.

Screams can be heard in one piece of footage as frightened revellers in Katzenjammers German beer bar, located close to Borough Market, rush to tables and crouch low as armed officers order them to hide under tables and behind chairs.

The killings began just after 10pm on Saturday when a van ploughed into a number of pedestrians on London Bridge. The Met Police said that three attackers then went to Borough Market and attacked passers-by with knives, including a police officer who sustained injuries to his face, head and leg but was expected to survive.

Officers responded quickly to the incident and three suspects were shot dead shortly afterwards, the Met Police said.

Other footage shows a high number of security personnel and emergency services sweeping the streets and people can be seen running as officers shout “Get back” and “Keep moving”.

People could later be seen being escorted away from the scene of the ongoing police incidents with their hands above their heads.

Officers also responded to an incident in the Vauxhall area, but it was later confirmed to be unrelated to the terror incident in London Bridge and borough Market.

Several hours after the incident, Met Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said in a statement: “The suspects had been confronted and shot by the police within eight minutes of the first call.

“The suspects were wearing what looked like explosive vests but these were later established to be hoaxes.”

AC Rowley added that there would be “additional police and officers deployed across the Capital” over forthcoming days.
