A British bouncer claims he managed to fly from London to Germany after he accidentally picked up and used the passport of his girlfriend.

Josh Reed, 21, told The Sun he made it through Standstead’s airport security and onto a Ryanair plane heading for Dortmund before he realised he was travelling with partner Sophie Wilkin’s passport.

“I thought it was my passport, the lady checked it with my boarding pass. It wasn’t until we landed that I spotted it,” he told the newspaper. Mr Reed measures more than a foot taller than his girlfriend, who is also seven months pregnant.

Mr Reed told the Lad Bible he used his driver’s licence to get through security when he landed in Germany.

“I was just completely shocked at how the hell I look like a small brunette female,” he told the site. “It just makes me wonder how many people are going in and out of the country with passports that look like them,” he added.

A spokesperson for Ryanair said: “Our handling agent at the boarding gate mistakenly failed to check the passport of this passenger, and Swissport have assured us that appropriate steps will be taken to prevent a recurrence.

“However, it is Mr Reed’s primary responsibility to ensure that he is travelling on his valid passport in compliance with Ryanair’s terms and conditions.”
