Cycle commuters to be counted
The 2011 Census, which takes place on 27 March, will find out how many more people cycle to work.
The last census in 2001 showed that 650,000 people in England and Wales used a bike as their main means of travel to work. With cycle sales nearing £850m, the new figure is likely to be much higher.
The last census showed that 476,010 men cycled to work, compared with 174,967 women; 13,050,529 people drove to work; and a further 1,477,211 people commuted as passengers.
