CCTV captures hit-and-run in east London

Footage which shows a hit-and-run driver careering into a group of five people has been released by police.

A woman and two children suffered serious – but not life-threatening – injuries from the incident in East Ham, London.

CCTV shows the group crossing a road towards a traffic island as the car comes speeding towards them.

At least two can be seen flying into the air as two others rush across the other side to safety.

The car then comes to a stop on the pavement, with the driver getting out and running away shortly after.

Police say they were called to the scene just before 3pm on Thursday, October 27.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the three pedestrians – a woman aged in her 50s and two children, a boy, 12, and a girl, 11 – were taken to hospital for treatment," a statement read.

No arrests were made and enquiries are continuing.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
