The body of a crewman who died when his stricken fishing boat sank three months ago has been recovered from the water.

Jack Craig, 22, was one of three crew on board the Purbeck Isle, which was reported missing off the coast of Weymouth on May 17.

Survey ship Odyssey Explorer discovered the wreck of the 36ft potter boat lying 10 miles off Portland, in Dorset, two days later.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the body of Mr Craig was found by a fishing trawler 20 miles off Brixham, Devon, on August 9.

The body of skipper David McFarlane, 35, from Weymouth, was recovered from the water on May 18. Crewman Robert Prowse, 20, is still missing.

A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that the body of a man is Jack Craig.

"He was found 20 miles offshore from Brixham, on August 9 and taken into Berry Head by the Torbay lifeboat.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this and the matter has been passed to the Torbay coroner, but is going to be passed over to the Dorset coroner.

"Dorset Police have also been informed."

Mr Craig was formally identified on Friday and relatives in Weymouth have been informed.
