The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company was fined pounds 250,000, with pounds 20,000 costs, by a judge at Liverpool Crown Court after an explosion which killed two welders who were working on board a ship. The company admitted failing to conduct its undertaking in such a way as to ensure the men were not exposed to risks to their health and safety.
