A woman has been charged with murdering her two-month-old baby daughter in London.

Federica Boscolo-Gnolo, a 31-year-old Italian, reported the baby missing on Thursday, telling police she had disappeared from a hotel they were staying at in Hammersmith and Fulham.

She was arrested hours later and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, where she was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on 3 February.

“Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and, although no body has been found, detectives obtained authority to charge Federica Boscolo-Gnolo with murder,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.

“Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of the baby's disappearance.”

Baby Farah Boscolo-Gnolo was born on 22 November in her mother’s home town of Chioggia, near Venice in Italy.
