A teenage boy was fighting for his life today after being assaulted. The incident happened on the forecourt of a petrol station in the Corbally area of Limerick at around 9.45pm yesterday.
He was taken to Mid-Western Regional Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries, described by gardai as critical.
A male in his late teens was arrested at the scene.
He is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Henry Street Garda Station.
Anyone with information is asked to contact gardai.
